What is occupational/hand therapy?

Occupational Therapy (OT) practitioners ask, “What matters to you?” not, “What’s the matter with you?”¬†Through the therapeutic use of everyday activities, OT’s help people participate in the activities they want and need to do. This includes work, leisure, self-care, and caring for family.

OTs:

  • Perform assessments of functional ability and limitations.
  • Develop intervention to improve personal performance in activity.
  • Reassess and modify the treatment plan to attain client goals.
